Your Next Step
Your recovery programme arms you with tools and strategies so you can recover from your eating disorder. However, no matter how far you come or how much you have learned through this time, recovery is an ongoing process.
Instead of coming to an abrupt end in your programme, we believe that there must be a step in between. This way, you can continue to move forward by reducing the amount of hands-on treatment you receive, while still allowing you to feel supported.
This is why we created The Natural Food Therapy Community.
What is The Natural Food Therapy Community?
The Community is a safe online space for all those who have completed recovery programmes at Natural Food Therapy. It allows you to feel supported as you continue your recovery journey.
Through a private Facebook group, intimate group calls, workshops, and 1:1 connections with peers, members have the opportunity to make real friendships with others in a similar boat. You can share, continue to work through recovery, ask questions, and lift each other up.
Time and time again, we’ve seen connections made in The Community grow into powerful friendships. This is what makes The Community a unique benefit of recovering with Natural Food Therapy.
Why community is critical during eating disorder recovery
Eating disorders often lead to disconnection from others, which can create intense feelings of loneliness as a result. It is not uncommon to feel as though you are the only person going through this difficult battle with food and body image.
Many people experiencing this battle retreat deeper into the eating disorder because they feel as though they are alone. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
When you have a trusted network of peers and professionals who understand what you’re going through, you can find strength knowing you are, in fact, not alone—which is our ultimate goal with The Natural Food Therapy Community.
How The Community eases the transition out of your programme
Support doesn’t have to end when your programme ends. We created The Community because we believe there must be a step that considers this delicate state of recovery.
Although working closely with your eating disorder specialist through your unique experience of recovery is crucial, there comes a time where you no longer need this level of support. Eventually, there will come a time where you feel ready to begin moving forward independently.
That said, moving from full support with your eating disorder specialist to the completion of your programme can feel somewhat overwhelming. This can lead to difficult feelings and emotions that trigger relapse.
Our goal with The Community is to help prevent these overwhelming feelings. By having The Community by your side, you can keep making progress with increased independence and a sustainable source of support.
The Community empowers you to build a strong support network
For so many of our recovery warriors, The Community has become their greatest support network.
Not only will you find comfort in connecting with others at a similar stage of recovery through our online community, but you will also receive powerful group sessions to continue exploring and receiving support through recovery.
Your practitioner will also directly connect you with others who they feel you may benefit from connecting with—in a way that feels safe and comfortable for you, at your own pace.
Connecting with those who have been through something similar brings a huge sense of relief and comfort. It can lead to friendships that last a lifetime.
